Microsoft Claims Starfield Is Just The Beginning For Xbox First-Party Titles

Starfield Kicks Off Massive Xbox Lineup!

Starfield is expected to usher in a new age of first-party titles for Microsoft. Todd Howard and Bethesda Game Studios are currently engaged in Gamescom, marketing the game to millions of attendees and viewers just before launch.

In addition to Starfield, Xbox has joined Gamescom with its biggest presence and booth at the event. This effort also extends to a series of interviews with Xbox executives like Phil Spencer.

During one such interview, the Chief Marketing Officer of Xbox claimed Starfield is just the beginning of the Xbox first-party lineup.

Why it matters: Xbox has struggled to compete with PlayStation and Nintendo’s first-party lineups for over a decade, but the gaming giant hopes to change this moving forward.

Speaking to Gamesindustry, the CMO of Xbox, Jerret West, talked about Starfield and how its release would impact future Xbox first-party titles. He stated:

“This is, in my mind, the doorway, almost like a starting gun, to what I think is going to be a multi-year relay race of first-party titles.”

He said that Xbox has great first-party titles ahead of Starfield, with Forza Motorsports coming a month after Starfield in October. Hellblade 2 is also gearing up for 2024, and games like Towerborne will continue this momentum.

Furthermore, Xbox will continue its quest to release quality RPGs with Avowed. With a renowned developer like Obsidian Entertainment leading development, hopes are high for Avowed.

Despite various announcements, Xbox has many stories yet to be revealed. Therefore, there is potential for new announcements at any of the biggest gaming events in 2024 or 2025.

Xbox Live Gold Game Pass Core

Jerret West is excited about his marketing role at Xbox as the future is looking bright for the gaming giant. Expressing his excitement further, the CMO said:

“I think we are entering a period where this is the beginning of something that’s going to be really special over the course of the next several years.”

As stated earlier, recent years have been disappointing for Microsoft.

Many had high hopes for recent games like Redfall, but Arkane Austin’s latest project was a massive failure, quickly becoming the lowest-rated game from the studio after its release.

All eyes are currently on Starfield, and Xbox is betting big on Bethesda Game Studios’ latest RPG. Early impressions of the game have shown nothing but potential, leading to the possibility of the biggest Xbox release since an iconic title like Halo 3 for the Xbox 360.
