Another PS5 Exclusive Locked In For 2024!

Story Highlights

  • Stellar Blade was revealed in 2021, and various gameplay trailers have shown a lot of footage so far.
  • The game was initially expected to arrive in 2023, but it seems to have been pushed back.
  • PlayStation’s latest blog post confirms that it will arrive in 2024.

In 2023, PlayStation offered major games like Final Fantasy 16 and Spider-Man 2 as console exclusives, with the latter becoming its fastest-selling first-party game.

However, 2024 is already shaping up to be another promising year, with PlayStation confirming a release window for Stellar Blade. According to the latest PlayStation Blog, this action game is arriving next year.

Why it matters: Stellar Blade has been featured extensively in marketing material from PlayStation for over a year since its initial 2021 reveal. Therefore, many expected the game to arrive in 2023.

First announced as Project Eve, this title has grown closer to PlayStation and Sony over the years.

Following the initial announcement, PlayStation confirmed that it would publish Stellar Blade, making it an exclusive for the PS5 console. According to reports, developer Shift Up has also become a second-party team for PlayStation.

While extensive gameplay footage of Stellar Blade has already been shown on various occasions, the lack of uncertainty around a release window in 2023 left many fans concerned.

In a recent PlayStation Blog, the gaming giant has highlighted games headed to the console in 2024. In addition to the likes of Tekken 8 and Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade is now confirmed to be arriving next year.

However, PlayStation has yet to confirm a more precise release window. With exclusives like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Rise of the Ronin already filling up Q1, we expect this title to arrive in the latter half of the year.

From the gameplay shown so far, the Korean developer is taking elements from games like Devil May Cry and Dark Souls to create a high-octane action game that emphasizes difficulty and precise timing for a satisfying combat system.

This should be a nice change of pace for the Souls-like genre since such games typically rely on slower combat and gameplay systems.

In addition to an engaging gameplay loop, players can expect a thought-provoking narrative revolving around a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by NA:tive as they explore the game next year.
