Submarine Game Iron Lung Surging In Sales But Dev Feels Wrong

"This Feels So Wrong!"

Recently, Oceangate’s Titan submarine left to find the remains of the Titanic. The Titan was carrying five passengers but was unable to maintain contact with the main ship. A rescue operation has been underway since then, but nothing has been found yet.

Following these events, a first-person submarine game has risen in popularity. Iron Lung has seen a massive surge of players, but the developer claims it feels very wrong.

Why it matters:  While many people see the situation as dark humor and joke about it, the Titan’s crew is expected to have run out of oxygen. This poses a threat to the crew’s life.

Iron Lung dev David Szymanski reported that the game saw a spike in sales. The developer has not only shared the graph, but he also has mixed feelings about this surge in relation to the Titan incident.

While talking about his feeling, the developer stated:

“I made Iron Lung the most nightmarish thing I could think of, and knowing real people are in that situation right now is pretty horrific.”

It is not hard to agree with David Szymanski about the incident. Previously, it was revealed that the Titan was controlled with a cheap Logitech controller. This hinted at just one of the many problems with the expedition.

Iron Lung forces players into a tiny submarine as they are thrown into an ocean of blood. Players are then forced to utilize limited senses to photograph the ocean. This leads to an intense experience that lasts around an hour.

Unfortunately, the Titan is still missing.

While the search has not been stopped, it is estimated that the crew has run out of oxygen by now. Therefore, their survival may not be guaranteed even if the submarine is found in the coming hours.
