The season of digital gaming showcases is starting soon, with events from publishers like PlayStation, Microsoft, and Ubisoft coming soon. Summer Game Fest is also returning this year, featuring big announcements and reveals.
The digital showcase will return this year on June 8 with an in-person event for the first time at the YouTube Theater in California. In an interview with the host Geoff Keighley, multiple new details have been revealed.
Summer Games Fest will last 2 hours, featuring tons of new game reveals.
Why It Matters: Summer Game Fest is now the go-to show for video game reveals after E3 was canceled and has been essentially replaced by Geoff Keighley’s annual event.
According to the host, the event will feature 3-4 announcements that will be pretty big for the audience. Games like Elden Ring received their first gameplay trailer at Summer Games Fest previously, and The Last of Us Part 1 was also revealed at the event.
Over 40 partners will participate in the Summer Game Fest, including Sony, Microsoft, and Ubisoft, despite the first 3 hosting their separate showcases. Surprisingly, the biggest game reveal and news is a surprise even for the show’s host.
According to Keighley, this year’s Summer Game Fest will be entirely different from E3 and will feature game reveals as well as a chance for developers to come onstage and talk about their games.
The event will not have booths or demo stations, unlike E3, which means people attending the show online will not miss out on much. Geoff Keighley also expects around 3000 people in the audience, besides the thousand others attending the showcase online.
The season of digital gaming showcases is kicking off with the PlayStation Showcase on May 24, followed by Summer Game Fest on June 8 and Xbox Games Showcase just a few days later.
What do you hope to see at this year’s show? Be sure to discuss in the comments.
