Red Dead Redemption 3 Inevitable Release Hinted At By Take-Two CEO

Expected To Release After GTA 6!

Red Dead Redemption began in 2010 and quickly joined Rockstar Games’ flagship IPs. The franchise has only seen two main titles in over a decade, and both have portrayed excellent narrative and gameplay from Rockstar Games.

The series has managed to sell nearly 80 million units, making it one of the most successful IPs in the industry, with the sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, among the 10 best-selling games of all time.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in 2018, and a sequel is nowhere to be found nearly half a decade later. However, Take-Two’s CEO has already hinted at Red Dead Redemption 3.

Why it matters: Red Dead Redemption 2 took the series to new levels of critical acclaim and popularity. Therefore, a third game has the potential to be the most successful entry in the series to date.

Red Dead Redemption

Speaking during a global conference, Strauss Zelnick from Take-Two confirmed that the company will keep going with its main franchises for many years because some of them have the potential to continue succeeding for decades.

He said:

“If it’s really great, it will keep going. There are precious few entertainment franchises of any sort that fall into that category, but they do exist.”

“I think Red Dead is one of them.”

This statement indicates that Red Dead Redemption 3 will eventually be a reality as the latest game was very profitable, becoming a massive hit with audiences and critics.

However, the CEO also noted the importance of resting these IPs so each new launch becomes a special occasion due to its rarity. He also made comparisons with Bond films, claiming they are special because they do not release very frequently.

The latest release marked an eight-year gap between the first two games, but the company’s current pace suggests that the period between Red Dead Redemption 2 and the next entry will be longer.

Currently, Rockstar Games is busy with GTA 6, which is reported to have been in development for eight years. With increasing scope and higher expectations, Red Dead Redemption 3 is likely to take even longer to develop.

Red Dead Redemption 2

While the possibility of Red Dead Redemption 3 sounds exciting, Take-Two and Rockstar Games are completely focused on GTA 6 for the time being.

Take-two has alluded to an FY 2025 release window for the game, suggesting it will be out on the market no later than March 2025.

Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption has recently made its way to new consoles through a port for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. However, this port has caused frustration and disappointment, with the reveal trailer being flooded with dislikes.
