Coming Sooner Than Expected!

Tekken 8 is bringing the popular 3D fighting game franchise to the current generation of consoles with revamped visuals and refined gameplay mechanics.

Following the success of Tekken 7, the series is more popular than ever, and Bandai Namco hopes to use this newfound popularity to take the franchise to new heights with the upcoming release.

First teased at Evo 2022 and revealed at a PlayStation State of Play, Tekken 8 was expected to be released in early 2024. A new leak appears to line up with this window, hinting that Tekken 8 will be out in January 2024.

Why it matters: Tekken 7 sold over 10 million copies, introducing the series to millions of new players. Following this excitement, Tekken 8 is the most anticipated release from the franchise to date.

The leaked release date comes from popular leaker Aggiornamenti Lumia, who has been known to report on release dates for various games in the past. According to the leak, Tekken 8 will be available for fighting game enthusiasts on January 26, 2024.

Bandai Namco has already revealed plenty of content for the game. This includes several characters from the roster, a brief look at the story mode, and a deep dive into new gameplay mechanics like the heat system.

Recently, the developer conducted a Closed Network Test, offering a large roster of characters to pick from. Following the test, Bandai Namco claimed that there was still much work to be done, but the game appears to be closer than expected.

Assuming the January 26 release date is accurate, the studio may conduct an open beta soon to stress test the online gameplay before release since Tekken 8 aims to integrate a form of rollback netcode at launch, unlike previous games.

While Tekken 8 is a few months away, fighting game fans already have plenty of content to keep themselves engaged till January 2024.

Street Fighter 6 was just released on the market a few months ago and received excellent reviews from critics. Mortal Kombat 1 is also due for release in September, leading to an exciting few months ahead for fans of the genre in 2023.
