Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers Make Up 70-80% of All Game Pass Users

Majority of Xbox Users Subscribed To Ultimate Tier!

Xbox Game Pass offers its users a catalog of first-party and third-party games. Game Pass is one of the prominent selling features of Xbox and provides users with a library of games for just a fraction of the $60 price.

Microsoft’s service features 3 tiers: Game Pass Core, Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate. The last tier includes Game Pass for PC and Xbox, EA Play, and access to online play. Despite its price, the last tier is the most popular among Xbox users.

Why it matters: Buyers usually prefer the cheapest option when subscribing to services. However, this is not the case for Game Pass, as it offers excellent value for the money.

As spotted by Emopulse, a report from the European Commission reveals that around 70-80% of Game Pass users are subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate.

The highest tier of the service costs around $16.99 per month and features first-party titles like Forza Horizon 5, Hi-Fi Rush, and more. Furthermore, upcoming first-party titles will join the service on day one, meaning Starfield will be available on Game Pass next month.

However, Game Pass Ultimate also brings the added benefit of cloud streaming, allowing buyers to play these titles on phones or laptops via an internet connection. This leads to further convenience, as users can move between the Xbox eco-system at will.

All of these benefits have likely convinced users to pay the extra price for Game Pass Ultimate. It should also be noted that Microsoft has previously allowed users to convert their Gold subscriptions to Game Pass Ultimate for $1.

This may have contributed to the large share of Game Pass Ultimate members, but Microsoft is likely happy to have the majority of subscribers on the most expensive tier.

The Game Pass catalog is continuously expanding, and more first-party titles will be added as Microsoft focuses on improving the catalog. Following the ongoing merger, many Activision games are expected to eventually join the service, including Call of Duty.
