The E3 2023 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) will be the 27th E3 conference in which hardware manufacturers, software developers, and game publishers will reveal their new and upcoming products in June 2023.
After four years, E3 2023 will be a physical event, but it seems like gaming industry giants have decided to disappoint the fans.
According to inside sources of IGN, Xbox, Nintendo, and Sony will not participate in this year’s E3 conference. It’s terrible news for the fans of gaming conventions who have long waited for this physical event, as Xbox, Nintendo, and Sony are the gaming industry’s primary “Big Three.”
Though at the same time, it might not surprise many as two Japanese console makers have been doing their own thing for years already, while Microsoft confirmed earlier this month that Xbox Game Studios will once again have its summer showcase.
The good news is that this means we still get plenty of exciting announcements and trailers from the first-party studios when the sun shines. The bad is that it also makes E3 seem even more irrelevant, although it’s probably still a good place to make new friends and connections for game creators.
ReedPop gave IGN a statement regarding its report, suggesting that negotiation is ongoing with “many of the biggest companies in the industry”:
E3 is such a significant event for the game industry and being entrusted with an important cultural touchstone is not a responsibility ReedPop takes lightly.
